Unit 54 - Digital Graphics for print

·         Amazon is the biggest retailer in the world. The amazon logo is all in lower caps and this makes it look more friendly to people, but also they have an arrow from the letter A to Z this was created represent the message that they sell everything from A to Z.

Formula 1 is commonly known simply as F1. With the black F and the red pattern signifying speed on display.  But if you look at the white space between these the two elements there is a number 1. This represents the name of the company formula 1 in short F1.  The black shows that the company is bold and serious about racing, the red also shows that it is active and emotional about racing. 








The Toblerron chocolate comes from Switzerland – which is also known as the city of bears. But there is a secret in the logo of a mountain, there is a beer in the mountains, this represents Switzerland and it shows that it is a proud Switzerland chocolate. The colour gold represents that the chocolate is determined, posh and wealthy and the colour red show that it is passionate chocolate and intensity.




 






NBC has changed their logo 13 times in the past and in 1956 they chose to add the hidden peacock into the logo but in 1956 they got rid of it again. In 1979 they re-added the logo and from then on they decided to keep the hidden peacock and just improve the colours and shapes. The NBC logo has a hidden peacock above the above text which is looking to the right, this represents the company’s motto to look forward and not back. The name of the company is black with represents that it is a bold company and the six colours show that it is a mixture of feelings.
                                      












The apple logo has an bite out of it, the designer of the logo said that it was implemented with the bite so people would recognize that as an apple instead of berry, this worked because if you show someone this logo they would do it was an apple not an berry. Also the apple logo also has a bitten out of it because the first guy to make a proper computer that help in WW1 was gay and the army said he had to stop being gay or die so he ate a poison apple and died. The colour black show that the company is bold, serious and luxurious.

3.       Be able to apply single camera techniques in a production- actual filming, combining 1 and 2 to help actual film.

PASS
P1: learners will describe correctly and substantially examples of single camera production in terms of formats, narrative structures, and technical execution. The description will be in terms of the content – that is, the ‘story’ of these productions will be given and techniques will be noted but this will lack the detailed exemplification required for the higher grades. It will also lack any explanation of how such techniques as master shot, reverse shot, image size and editing actually help to tell the story. Evidence will show a basic understanding of technical terminology but learners will generally be unsure about this vocabulary and will make fairly frequent mistakes when they do use it.

MERIT
M1: learners will explain the formats, narrative structures and technical elements of single camera production. Detailed illustrative examples will be used to illustrate and support what is said, but the learner will not elucidate these examples to show how they illustrate the points they support. Learners will explain the use of cinematic techniques and how they create meaning for the audience. For example a learner might explain how the point of view shot is used to encourage audiences to identify with characters or situations, or produce a degree of realism for the audience. Learners will use technical vocabulary for the most part correctly, but may make mistakes or be unsure about usages at times.

Distinction
D1: learners will use a wide range of precisely focused examples to comprehensively explain the formats, narrative structures and technical elements of single camera production. Learners will draw out of examples precisely what is about them that that exemplifies the points they illustrate. Learners at this level will typically discuss mainstream and alternative formats with explicit reference to both narrative structures and cinematic techniques. For example, in terms of narrative, open ended, non-linear and multi-stranded narratives might be explored, whilst, in terms of techniques, shot size, camera angle and camera movement will be considered along with editing techniques such as continuity editing, cross cutting, use of montage and split screen, with elucidated examples to illustrate each technique. Technical vocabulary will be secure and used correctly and confidently at all times.
 D2 and D3: learners will typically explore independently a range of effective and well thought-out original ideas and designs for production. Examples will show a high technical standard as well as creativity and flair resulting in preparatory material which closely reflects industry conventions for the presentation of such material. Codes and conventions will be used with occasionally surprising results. Practical digital graphic work will reflect the high standard of designs and preparation work completed for D2. Learners will show that there has been a clear progression from original designs to their completed work, which itself evidences creativity and flair and independent application of high quality technical skills to near-professional expectations. In all practical activity distinction grade learners will be capable of working autonomously and effectively. The term ‘working independently’ means that they are able to work on their own initiative, do not need constant support or supervision, give the work their full commitment, work positively and cooperatively with others, and meet deadlines. In other words, they have the kind of self-management skills that would be expected of them in a professional context. Note also that this criterion should not be taken to mean that learners do not seek advice or that they work without discussing things with their tutor, but rather that they are not dependent upon the support of others and that when they take advice they weigh it carefully for themselves.
D4: learners will produce a comprehensive, fluent and critically objective assessment of their own work that has well-considered justifications for the choices made with detailed reference to elucidated examples taken from that work. They will make critical comparisons of their own work with current or past practice in this sector of the industry.
D1 and D4: technical vocabulary will be secure and used correctly and confidently at all times.
